What Is A Weight-Bearing Exercise Program?

 

A Weight-Bearing Fitness Program is one that utilizes exercises that require one to move against gravity while staying upright.

 

These exercises force your muscles and bones to work harder, thus promoting increased muscle strength and bone density in the process.

Why Do We Need Weight-Bearing Exercises?

 

As we age, our bones naturally become weaker and more prone to osteoporosis. This in turn may lead to an increased risk of bone injuries, fractures and even loss of independence down the road.

 

Also, as a result of natural aging processes and our lifestyle choices, many of us tend to lose a large percentage of our lean muscle mass down the years - a condition known as sarcopenia. With it, comes a loss of strength and mobility, as well as a greater risk of falls and physical trauma to the body.

 

As a cornerstone of healthy aging, weight-bearing exercises can play a crucial role in halting and even reversing many of the above ills, while preserving and enhancing both our bone health and muscle health.

 

On top of that, weight-bearing activities also offer a host of other physical, mental, and emotional benefits, such as:

  • better joint health,

  • increased cardiovascular fitness,

  • improved balance and coordination, and

  • enhanced mental well-being.

For any middle-aged, older adult or senior who wants better bone health and muscle health; and for those who like a high degree of independence while aging gracefully and healthily down the years.

My Fitness Approach

 

After conducting all necessary diagnostic tests and assessments, I will conduct the weight-bearing exercise program at your desired or preferred location here in Singapore, using your immediate surroundings, your own body-weight and a wide range of functional portable fitness tools.

Program Components

 

This weight-bearing fitness program can be conducted either as part of a Personal Training Program, a Couple/Partner Program, a Group Fitness Training Program or as a Fitness Workshop for participants.

Training Times

 

I provide weight-bearing training sessions for seniors/older adults across Singapore at flexible and negotiable days and timings - but all strictly by appointment ONLY .

 

Fitness sessions may be scheduled between 9am to 9pm, on weekdays only.

 

All bookings are also strictly on a First-Come-First-Serve basis and are subject to availability.

Besides being one of the few fitness providers in Singapore who holds the title of both Master Trainer and Senior Exercise Consultant, I'm also the ONLY Singapore fitness provider who offers proof, verification and validation of my fitness credentials and qualifications.
